Planning for the next stage

An honest outside view, plans your staff can own, and coaching for the people carrying the load while change takes hold.

School leadership can be a lonely path. So many responsibilities, and so often no one to turn to for independent advice and an empathetic ear.

Every school reaches points where it needs to reset: after rapid growth, a change of leadership, an inspection, or simply a sense that things could be better. That is when a fresh pair of eyes helps most.

We have sat alongside managers, teachers and staff to help them deliver school improvement plans, both short and long-term. We believe the process should be meaningful, and it can be fun.

How we help schools improve

Eight areas we support.

  1. Leadership coaching

Personal coaching can play a huge part in a leader’s success. Our senior consultants have coached and mentored heads, middle managers and teachers for many years, offering independent advice and a sympathetic ear when it is needed most.

  2. Strategic planning

Strategic planning is one of those big tasks many schools find daunting, especially new ones. We work alongside managers, teachers and staff to build and deliver improvement plans for the short and the long term.

  3. Organisational development

At different points in a school’s life, staffing and organisational structures need to be set, and then reset, to work well. We can assess your organisational and communication structures and help you with ideas and strategies for change, drawing on many years of executive experience in planning and restructuring.

  4. Whole-school needs assessment

An independent review gives you a fresh, honest look at your strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, and at what you need to do to succeed. It can be part of your planning, or a way to tackle a specific problem such as staff morale or parent confidence.

  5. Support with accreditation

Getting started with accreditation can feel daunting. We know the process, having helped schools prepare for and complete both whole-school and curriculum accreditation.

  6. Parent engagement

We have developed parent surveys and run parent focus groups to understand what families need and worry about. We can advise on clearer communication, on involving parents in school life and on building open, constructive relationships between home and school.

  7. Teacher appraisal

We can assess your teaching standards and plan for improvement, helping teachers get better while feeling supported. Talk to us about setting up classroom observations, peer evaluation, needs assessment and professional development plans.

  8. Curriculum development

Schools often tell us they want more balance and a more holistic approach to learning. Values-based Education answers that call by changing a school’s philosophy and approach. Our consultants have embedded it in schools through whole-school workshops and training.
